Sunday 20th August, 12:00pm - Poetry Workshop with Iftikhar Latif
Join us for this unique poetry workshop exploring themes of identity and how TV shows, films and other forms of media may affect the way we are seen by others. Run by published poet and writer Iftikhar Latif. You are welcome to turn up on the day, but we recommend booking your FREE space here.
Sunday 20th August, 2:15pm - Poetry Workshop with Ella Dorman-Gajic
Poetry may not be classed as a 'visual medium', but that doesn't mean your poetry can't be cinematic. This workshop will focus on how we use language to evoke vivid imagery in our poetry, led by published poet and critically acclaimed scriptwriter Ella Dorman-Gajic. You are welcome to turn up on the day, but we recommend booking your FREE space here.
Monday 21st August, 7pm - Poetry Open Mic ft. Repeat Beat Poet and Maddy Accalia. Sign up for the open mic will take place on the night of the event so please arrive promptly.

The Repeat Beat Poet
Peter deGraft-Johnson (The Repeat Beat Poet) is a British-born Ghanaian Poet, Hip Hop Artist and DJ. He has performed across the UK, Europe & Africa. He co-founded the Hip-Hop open mic Pen-Ting, hosts the Lunar Poetry Podcast, and shares his love for African music through Loose Egusi, his radio show & afro-disco night. Peter was an inaugural writer-in-residence at the Library Of Africa & The African Diaspora in Accra, Ghana, and his debut pamphlet A Testament To Life & Death was released in 2022 with a second edition in 2023. His work has been commissioned by Amnesty, The UN, aired on the BBC, published by Penguin, and taught worldwide. In 2023 he was invited to be a member of the Grammys.
Maddy Accalia
Maddy Accalia (she/they) is an award-winning playwright, poet and
producer from Brighton. Her work is rooted in the spaces in and around the female experience, through candid dialogue and observational comedy. Their plays have been performed at Vault Festival, Gilded Balloon, North Wall and Norwich Theatre Royal Stage 2. She has a First Class degree in Scriptwriting and Performance from the University of East Anglia and was shortlisted for the inaugural Women’s Prize for Playwriting. As a poet, they have performed at Brainchild, Speakeasy and Sofar Sounds London, and been published in Bath Magg and Ink Sweat and Tears. She was a Roundhouse Resident Artist 2021-2023 and has previously been a member of the North Wall Catalyst Playwriting Programme, Apples and Snakes Writing Room and BBC Words First.
